Procedures of rhinoplasty surgery

Every day we see many people with glue on their nose, with the increase in demand for rhinoplasty, many people are looking for the steps of a surgery. What steps are necessary to perform a surgery from the beginning? What are the procedures before and after nose surgery? All these questions are answered in this article.

Choosing a surgeon in rhinoplasty

One of the most important things that must be addressed at the very beginning of cosmetic surgery is choosing a skilled surgeon. Viewing the portfolio of the surgeon’s work helps a lot in knowing the type of nose surgery of that doctor, whether it is in harmony with our wishes or not. Therefore, before going to the doctor, be sure to see examples of surgical work on the website or Instagram page.

Initial assessment for rhinoplasty

Cosmetic concerns and expectations should be thoroughly discussed before surgery. It is important to understand and explain the surgeon’s recommendations and the specific restrictions placed on the structure of your nose, face and skin. Photographs (without makeup) are usually obtained preoperatively to aid in preoperative and postoperative planning to document postoperative results.

What happens before rhinoplasty surgery?

In most cases, surgery is performed on an outpatient basis in a hospital or by a surgeon. In both facilities, quality care is provided without the cost and inconvenience of an overnight stay. The anesthesiologist is there to monitor vital functions during the procedure. Usually, the anesthesiologist will call the night before the procedure to review the medical history. Preoperative laboratory studies should be done a few days before. Post-operative transportation is required and a person must stay with the patient for the first night.

Tips before nose surgery

Aspirin or any blood thinners should not be taken 10 days before surgery.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not be taken within 7 days before surgery.

Post-operative transportation is required and a person must stay with the patient for the first night. This includes even water, candy or gum. Anything in the stomach increases the likelihood of complications from anesthesia.

Smokers should make every effort to stop smoking or at least reduce the number of cigarettes. This will help reduce coughing and bleeding after surgery. Difficulty in tissue healing has also been observed in smokers.

Any illness before the day of operation must be reported to the surgeon’s office as soon as possible. If the illness occurs on the day of surgery, it is best to go to the surgery as planned and be evaluated to decide if the surgery is safe.
